A personal remark Most of the people I meet at work perceive themselves as unable to much.Some don't even like themselves specifically.I know how they feel.I felt the same way when I was young and it almost ruined me before I had the confidence to become a teacher, therapist and organizer of personal development courses and complementary therapies.I have always believed that if low self-esteem was a physical condition such as cancer or AIDS, or a life-threatening habit of smoking and alcohol and drug abuse, the government would declare a national emergency, inject a lot of funds, and he would rise a massive advertising campaign forto fight it.There is no doubt that some politicians and educators have begun to give their lips and hopefully times will change.But in all my years of full -time education, in school, college and university, I do not remember a single session on self -esteem.Neither in his 20-year business career was educational resources dedicated to him.No one seemed to acknowledge its meaning.Perhaps everyone assumed that nothing could be done, or hoped that trust would develop as a by -product of other activities.What benefit is there to send a young person to the world with the head full of knowledge, but without confidence in using it effectively?I like to believe that there is a time when all children, regardless of their background, will grow up after learning to believe in themselves and have faith in their abilities as an important part of their upbringing.How many lives would be enriched?Would it not be exciting now? 6
