Ingredients for a Healthy Apple Crumble
- applesare the star of the show! I love using Pink Lady apples, but you can use Granny Smith apples or your favorite variety.
- CinammonIt is used in all bases and crumbles for its lovely aroma and earthy taste.
- oatmealare the basis of the crumble. It is better to use regular rolled oats instead of rolled oats, which have a finer texture.
- flaked almondsare what I used for a little crunch. You can also use chopped onesalmonds,nutsor any nut
- Mandelmehlis added to help create the sprinkles, which is tooGluten free. You can also useat WheatFlour or plain flour, orOatsFlour
- maple syrupis added for a touch of sweetness. You don't need to add much since the apples are already sweet. I always like to use pure maple syrup without preservatives or additives.
- Coconut beeris added to the crumble mixture instead of butter

How to Make Healthy Apple Crumble
Necessary time:25 minutes.
- Prepare the apple mixture
Peel and dice the apple and place in a bowl. Add maple syrup, cinnamon and water and stir. Pour into a small ramekin and press down on top so it's even and compact.
- Prepare the farofa
Place all crumble ingredients in a bowl and mix well to coat.
Pour the streusel topping over the apples, covering them all.

Bake at 180°C in a preheated oven for 22-25 minutes or in the microwave for 2-3 minutes. The apples should be soft when you insert a toothpick or fork.

- Be sure to use a microwave or oven safe casserole dish depending on the cooking method you choose.
- I prefer to peel my apple as I find the skin can be a bit tough but you can leave it if you prefer
- Be sure to press the apples down slightly in the casserole dish so they are compact and ready for steaming and cooking.
- When making the streusel, you can use your fingers to combine the ingredients to create a streusel-like texture.
