I have Windows 10 and Mapublisher 10.2 on my new PC and while Mapublisher is installed I often lose the ability to use shortcuts (eg Ctrl+Z). Occurs when you open layer windows (also in other cases) and try to use a keyboard shortcut. When I click on the artboard, everything works fine again. Same thing with both Illustrator CC 2017 and 2018. My mates have older windows and don't have this problem.
What could it be?

Hola,
Thanks for your contribution! Has this only happened recently? Do you have specific keyboard layouts? Are you using other programs or many other applications at the same time? Do you use keyboard/mouse sharing software like Synergy?
Just to clarify, is it the Adobe Layers panel you had open when the problem occurs or the MAP Views panel?

I think the problem could have been there all along. At first I thought it was an accidental hiccup of Illustrator 2018. The latest versions tend to be buggy.
As soon as I click on any menu in Illustrator (be it Layers, Map Views or Paragraph Styles), all keyboard shortcuts are disabled until I click in the general area of the graphic. The Libraries(!) menu seems to be an exception. The extras and the File, Edit,... menu don't seem to be a problem. Menus behave like different programs or windows. Once MP is uninstalled, everything works fine.

I tried it on two other Windows 10 computers and the problem is always there. I'm a bit confused why no one has confirmed that AI+win10+Mapublisher always produces the same problem. That would have saved a lot of time troubleshooting.

I'm not surprised as I'm the only one having this problem and yet I can't get it to work on other Windows 10 machines either.
I can't be the only one who uses shortcuts in Adobe Illustrator. There must be at least someone who uses Ctrl + C and Ctrl + V and finds that they don't work.

We've had some reports of various Illustrator tools/shortcuts not working, but we were unable to reproduce this on our site to try and find a solution. We think it's a focus issue (ie the focus is on a MAPubisher panel and away from the Illustrator artboard).
Were you able to reproduce this consistently across documents/working sessions? If so, can you provide the exact step-by-step process so we can try to reproduce this on our end and hopefully find a solution?
Also, can you confirm that you are using Windows 10 in case this occurs and what version of MAPublisher and Adobe Illustrator? Finally, if you only see this behavior with certain documents, can you please share one of those documents with us using the form on support.avenza.com?

This topic has already gone through Avenza support, we are trying some things without results.
This problem is active all the time in all documents, as soon as I click on any menu in illustrator (be it layers or map views or paragraph styles or mapublisher tools) all links are disabled until I click on the general area of the chart
The only exception seems to be the Libraries menu (!). The Tools and File, Edit,... menus do not show this problem. Menus behave like different programs or windows. Once MP is uninstalled, everything works fine.
Shortcuts include copy and paste. Ctrl+Alt+Del still works.
– I tried MP versions 10.2 and 10.3 and Illustrator versions 2017, 2018 and 2019
- Illustrator CS6 works fine
– Another PC running Windows 10
– I tried to change the locale in Mapublisher settings

It's eating my soul slowly. I'd like to completely reinstall Windows and everything (takes a long time), but I'm not sure if it's possible. Some people I report don't have that problem with WIN 10.
So maybe some programs and drivers are used that are different on some Win 10 computers used by MaPublisher or Illustrator. Like Microsoft Visual C++ or something like that, graphics card drivers.

Hola,
I've had this exact problem for a while now and found it very frustrating. The incremental loss of time for each additional click required for simple operations like copy and paste to front adds up.
I kept looking for solutions and *maybe* found one that worked, at least for the brief time I tried it. Disable "Enable Context Sensitive Defaults" in General Preferences and let me know if that helps. It would be great to find a solution.

i had this problem forDulceand seems to have finally found a solution. For me it was incredibly easy; Only Close or reduce card attributes panel. It seemed to "steal" focus from my main Illustrator window, so all my shortcuts were applied to the Map Attributes panel and just didn't work. Hope this helps someone else because I was starting to lose my mind.
